House Rules

No pets
No events, large gatherings, or parties without prior approval
Be kind, rewind (after enjoying the VHS or cassette tape collections)

Smoking is allowed on the porches, however cigarette butts must NOT be put out on the porch and they need to be discarded in a safe manner. Cigarette butts found on the ground around the cabin will result in extra fees. See the house guide for more information.

We don’t have pavement, we have mud, so we ask that you use the boot cleaning brushes before entering the home with shoes on or feel free to remove shoes as well.

Please close and lock all windows and doors when you leave the cabin.

Please do not consume any food in the bedroom or bunk beds.

Only wood provided on site is allowed to be burned in the wood stoves in an order to reduce chemical buildup in the chimneys and reduce the chance of chimney fires.

If you bring wood with you, please make sure it was purchased locally (within 20 miles) to protect the forest from foreign pests and diseases and ONLY use it outside in the campfire pit.

Congratulations!

The space
We offer complimentary Wifi and firewood to make your stay as stress-free as possible! And the kitchen is stocked with coffee, tea, cocoa, popcorn, olive oil, vegetable oil, salt and pepper, and individual packets of condiments, so you can worry about the big stuff - like did you bring your hiking boots!

This cabin is one of two that we host; both situated at the end of a small community of cabins (5 cabins including these two). The community is surrounded by 1,000+ acres of Elbe Hills State Forest for your exploration and total serenity. There is a State Road that you can walk (or four-wheel) about a mile long and it will take you all the way to a "beach" on the Nisqually River. The other direction takes you towards Ashford, but is a bit more overgrown and longer.

On the property, both cabins share the "meadow space" and tree-fort with the slide. Apart from that, each cabin faces a different direction and offer plenty of privacy even though they are within about 30 yards of each other. It's the best of both worlds whether you rent just one of the cabins and want some privacy, or if you want to rent out both cabins for a larger get together and have separate spaces.

Both cabins have waterfront about half of the year when the Sahara Creek runs (November to June). The rest of the year, the creek bed is dry.
Guest access
There is one spot available for this cabin, and if you need it, we have over-flow parking across the creek as well. If you need to use the overflow parking, there is a footbridge to come across without taking the road the long way around. The drive-way is shared between the two cabins on-site, but they have separate parking spots which are clearly marked.

Our driveway exits to a State road which gets very little traffic from vehicles. Otherwise, getting around in this area is dependent on a car in most situations, unless of course you are horseback or backpacking. If you like to off-road, there is Elbe Hills ORV Park only a 10-15 min drive away from the cabin.

4WD is highly recommended during snowy or icy conditions. Refunds will not be issued on last minute cancellations due to weather.
Additional notes
We are happy to accommodate early check-ins and late check-outs if we have the capacity, so please just reach out for details - the sooner we know, the more likely we are able to say yes :)
Guest interaction
I am available by phone and text during your stay, but will not be on-site.
Neighborhood overview
Nestled at the base of Mt. Rainier, Ashford and Elbe are two quaint towns surrounded by wilderness. Hiking, horseback riding, mountaineering, mountain biking, boating, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and sledding are just a few of the activities waiting for you! We love this location because it showcases the best of what the Pacific Northwest has to offer in outdoor adventures!
